Hussein Mahrouq is an Arlington, Texas, business owner who operates a Dollar Rent a Car location and the Automax car dealership. The Automax center encompasses 40 acres and offers more than 2,000 new and used vehicles to choose from. Part of central Texas’ largest dealership, Hussein Mahrouq’s enterprise stocks quality models from Hyundai, Ford, Volkswagen, and other car companies.

When shopping for a used vehicle, it helps to know what to look for and what questions to ask. First, set a firm budget, then research the makes and models within your price range and decide which offer the best combination of appearance and under-the-hood dependability. While it makes sense to look for good deals, be aware that cars priced significantly under book value may have major issues that are not immediately evident.

Always make a basic check of the car’s history, and request documentation proving that the car is not encumbered by unpaid loans or write-offs and was legitimately owned throughout its lifespan. Also make a thorough inspection of the car from engine to air conditioning. Verify that all systems work. Check for leaking fluids and potentially expensive areas of damage, such as a blown head gasket.

Once the car has passed these tests, do not be afraid to make a reasonable offer as a way of starting the negotiation process toward a sale. Be sure to engage only with reputable dealerships that have a strong long-term relationship with the local community and offer repair services tied to a warranty.
